In early May we spent 3 lovely weeks in Gili Air[near Bali, for the homeschoolers retreat, it was great to meet some new families and catch up with old friends, it was also a great retreat for me, as Air {my 11yo daughter} would leave the hut at about 9am after doing a little reading, and spend another hour or so doing writing projects with littletree, often i wouldn't see her all day [she had a budget each day to cover her meals and any activities so there was math sorted for the day] and the older kids would ride around the island having fun and adventures, and as there are no motorised vehicles and just one dog, i could relax knowing she was safe and having fun! She also learnt to crochet with majikfaerie and is loving that, the kids also did a scuba introdution course and heaps of snorkelling, they got to touch a turtle when snorkelling just off the beach in front of our friends bungalow. There were about 10 families there altogether, though not all at the one time, about half the kids were in the over !0 age group and the others were mostly around 6yo, the mums [unfortunately not a single dad showed up] had some lovely times chatting together, and at one stage we were day dreaming about taking over the whole island with homeschoolers in the future! Maybe we will see you there next year!
